Aquamarine Gemstones

August 17th, 2008

March’s birthstone and the traditional stone for a nineteenth wedding anniversary, Aquamarine is the greenish-blue to blue-green variety of the mineral beryl (which includes emerald and the pink variety called morganite). The name comes from the Latin for “sea water.”

People in the Middle Ages thought that aquamarine magically conveyed insight and foresight. Holding one in the mouth allowed a person to call up spirits to answer life’s most vexing questions. Water that an aquamarine had soaked in was prescribed for eye troubles, respiratory diseases, and hiccups.

Many huge aquamarines have been found. One well-formed crystal found in Brazil in 1920 weighed 243 pounds. It was 19 by 16 inches, greenish on the outside, blue on the inside, and so transparent that objects were clearly visible through its length.

The British Museum of Natural History has a flawless aquamarine of 879 carats, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History has a fine 638-carat stone. In 1935, the Brazilian government gave Eleanor Roosevelt a 1,847-carat aquamarine. It is now in the museum at Hyde Park, the Roosevelt’s New York estate.

Aquamarine gemstones are a beautiful, cool gem in the greenish-blue hue range in light to medium dark tones. Aquamarine gemstones are available to you a choice of two qualities of faceted aquamarines. In both qualities the gemstones are eye clean with good cuts. AA quality consists of light to medium tone stones and our AAA quality has a medium to medium dark tone.

Maternity Wear - Do I Really Need It?

August 17th, 2008

Maternity clothing is manufactured to cater for your expanding bust, hips and waist that naturally occurs during pregnancy. Obviously it also caters for your bump that will be sitting out in front before you know it.

Many women wonder if they really need to purchase maternity clothing at all, the answer is pretty simple. If you want to look good and stay comfortable, Yes.

If you do decide that you do-not want maternity clothing you will find pants, shirts and shorts are the hardest garments to get away with this in. Normal clothing just does not allow for a belly to poke out the way your bump will!

There is an item called a belly belt that can be very useful and some mothers manage with these for a majority of their pregnancy. It consists of various size elastic strips that have a button at one end, and a button hole at the other. It comes with different colour belly panels to insert depending on the colour of your outfit. The idea is to place the belt between your normal button and button hole allowing you to wear your normal clothes for longer into your pregnancy.

Pro- Great for the first few months. You can wear your own clothes for longer.

Con- Can only be used for clothes that have a button and zip at the front. Often as your pregnancy progresses you will still find that your normal pants, skirts or shorts end up tight in the legs and hips as these areas are the natural place for your body to store fat as it prepares for the birth of your baby. Maternity clothing is designed with this in mind.

Maternity clothing is designed to be more flattering these days then what it once was. These days most women are extremely excited about their pregnancy and want to show their ‘bumps’ to the world. You will achieve this better and remain more comfortable throughout your pregnancy by carefully selecting a few quality maternity wear garments. As most tend to do with their normal wardrobes you will have your favourite outfits that you wear constantly so you will want garments that wash and wear well. There are two main things to consider prior to making your new wardrobe purchases:

How much wear will I get out of this item?

Consider the style and think about what stages of your pregnancy you will be able to wear it. Look for garments that will look good and feel comfortable regardless of if you are 3 months pregnant or 9 months. Many are also suitable post pregnancy while you are working on getting your shape back, these are a great choice.

How comfortable will this be on my stomach?

If this is your first pregnancy it maybe a little hard to imagine what you will feel like at 8 months pregnant, but roughly it is like someone has placed a basketball inside your belly. It isn’t very flexible, doesn’t like to bend to much and doesn’t like pressure on it. So the last thing you want is something that cuts across your belly.

The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune on you maternity wardrobe. By carefully selecting some basic mix and match items you can keep your budget in check. Recommended must have basics would be one or two pairs of comfortable pants, a skirt - length dependant on personal preference, and depending on time of year a pair of shorts. For tops you often can get away with your own for longer then with your pants however eventually you will require more room. Although it maybe tempting to just buy larger sizes you will find they look too big around the shoulders and will be firm around the waist. Maternity tops generally are designed fuller in the bust area and have longer front hemlines to allow an even look as your bump expands, so a couple of Maternity tops and you have your wardrobe set.

Spirituality - Bhagavan Nityananda, the Great Siddha of India

August 15th, 2008

“Siddha” means the one with “siddhis,” or yogic powers. Bhagavan Nityananda was one such great Siddha.

Although I’ve never met him in person, I had the good fortune of meeting his equally great disciple Baba Muktananda in America and it’s through Baba that I got to know this truly fascinating mystic and master yogi.

There are three stories about the taciturn Nityananda that for some reason made a deep impression on me.

In the first story, Indian tax collectors approach Nityananda and start to harass him about his taxes.

Although well-known for roaming the countryside non-stop with just a loincloth to his name and having no material possessions whatsoever, Nityananda was still squeezed by the tax collectors for hiding his wealth. Perhaps enjoying their power over this shy yogi who hid his powers from the outside world, they bothered him with insistent demands to reveal where he was hiding his “treasure chest.”

Sick and tired of his tormentors, Nityananda at long last caved in and told the taxmen to follow him to a swap.

And when they reached the crocodile infested swamp, Niyananda dived straight into the water and disappeared from their sight.

And according to the legend, when the Nityananda surfaced again, he was holding in both of his fists brand new gold coins and precious jewels.

“Do you now understand where I’m hiding my treasure at?” Nityananda asked them. Throwing the gold coins and jewelry on their heads, Nityananda admonished the taxmen not to bother him again.

Shocked and horrified by what they have just witnessed, the government official disappeared in a hurry and never came back.

# # #

Another sweet story again involves the consequences of harassing Nityananda.

Bhagavan, never staying at any one spot for too long, used to travel a lot on trains crisscrossing the Indian continent. Since most of the conductors were familiar with the strange blessings that visited those who treated the famous yogi well, they did not bother him and allowed him to travel without a ticket.

But one day a diligent conductor who did not know Nityananda asked him either to produce a ticket or get off the train.

Nityananda obediently got off and just squatted next to the tracks.

But when it came to moving the train forward, the machinist discovered that the train would not move for some strange reason. No matter what they did, the train would not budge an inch as if nailed down by an invisible force.

After some time the passengers who knew Bhagavan understood what was going on and immediately recommended the conductor to invite Nityananda back onto the train.

Running out of all other options and having a train load of people to deliver to the next station, the conductor gave in and invited the holly yogi back on the train.

And as soon as Nityananda climbed back, the train shivered back to life and started to chug along towards its next stop on the route.

# # #

The third story is the most lyrical of all and it’s an eye-witness story.

One dark night Bhagavan was drinking his cup of coffee sitting on the low wall in the back of his hut.

His back was turned to the jungle. While they were watching their master in awe as most disciples do whenever they get the chance (another name for “guru watching” is called “satsang” and is supposed to bestow numerous benefits on a disciple even if nobody talks anything) they noticed a huge tiger approaching Bhagavan from the jungle.

Since they were seeing the ferocious animal but Bhagavan, who was sitting with his back to the dark forest, could not, they grew very apprehensive.

Some of them tried to “warn” the great yogi about the “impending disaster” but Nityananda very calmly continued to sip his coffee (his favorite drink).

And when the tiger reached Nityananda, he stood up on his rear legs and placed his massive paws on the Bhagavan’s shoulders and just stood there, as if listening to the heart beat of the great illuminated master. After staying in that position for a while, the tiger quietly returned to the jungle.

His disciples interpreted this experience as the need for the tiger to get the Master’s “darshan,” or blessings. In India, such animals which manage to get the blessings of a great yogi like Bhagavan Nityananda are believed to be destined to reborn in their next life as a human being and that represents a great advancement on the ladder of spiritual evolution in the yogic tradition.

Blogging To The Bank - Is Blogging Your Key To Making Money Online?

August 12th, 2008

I am going to bet that you are not one of the richest people in the world. As a matter of fact, you are probably an average guy or gal who works 40+ hours a week (making money for someone else) and when all the bills are paid, you have very little left to show for it. How do I know this? This describes just about everyone who starts trying to make money online. Therefore, it goes without saying that you would probably be very excited if you had a way to start cashing in without any money down and with no start-up costs. One way to start doing exactly this is to start writing a blog.

Why Blogging Is A Good Idea

Writing a blog is one of the best ways you can get started making money online because you get two things that are very important in my opinion.

  1. You get an outlet for posting affiliate links on the web without resorting to Pay Per Click campaigns, which can become very costly, very quickly.
  2. Blogs are easier to create than webpages because you don’t have to bother with or learn HTML.

The best part about blogging is that there are so many blog sites out there that are free for anyone to use. In the same way that GeoCities gives out free webpages, there are many sites that are turning to giving out free blogs, such as Blogger.com. Using these free blogging services, you could easily have 40-50 money making pages for free.

Why Blogs Get More Traffic

One of the most difficult parts of making money online is actually getting people to visit your website. Lots of people have tried and failed but never learned how to get traffic to their website. The secret is actually very simple. You need to get listed in the search engines. The problem is that most search engines will favor listing you more if they find you on their own. So it quickly becomes a chicken vs. the egg situation. You need to get the search engines to visit you, but you can’t submit to them because of the potential penalties. The great thing about blogging sites is that they are already being crawled by the search engines so you will automatically get listed. Blogs using RSS feeds can be listed even quicker in most cases.

Your First Money Stream

One way to make money with blogs is to sign up for Google Adsense. This is a block of advertisements that you show for Google and they pay you every time someone clicks on one of the ads. The best part about this is that it often monetizes the visitors that weren’t going to buy anything through your site anyway.

The Power Of Reviews

One of the more popular ways to start earning a paycheck is to promote affiliate products. It is a well-known fact that products on the internet sell better not through advertisements, but by reviews and word of mouth. Just think back to the last time you bought a book from Amazon. Did you buy it because it had good reviews? You sure did. The nice thing about blogs is that they are all just opinions posted by ordinary people, and because of this, blogs can be an incredible selling machine just waiting to be released.

What Should You Write About?

I often get asked what is the best topic to write about in a blog. The answer is simple. You should only write about topics that you know something about, otherwise people will detect that you are not being sincere. Pick a topic that you know lots about, and start writing a little bit each day about your topic. The best format could be anything, but think about teaching something to your readers. Make your blog a series of lessons, presented one per day or one per week. This will keep your visitors coming back every, and every time they come back you’ve got another opportunity to make a sale to them.

An Army Of One

Have you ever heard the phrase “There’s power in numbers”? This is especially true for making money online. Most successful online marketers know that when you strike upon an idea that makes you $20 per day, if you do that idea 20 times, you should now be making $400 dollars per day. Therefore it goes without saying that if you have one blog that makes you money, you should make more of them. However, there is a certain way to do this successfully, and if you do it wrong your your blog will get banned by either the blogging site, or worse, by the search engines.

Rob Benwell’s Blogging to the Bank eBook shows you how to do it the right way which will save you the time, money and frustration of trying to figure it out on your own. I’ve got additional information on this eBook on my main website, listed below.

Your Possibilities Are Endless

Overall, there are many ways that you could make money on the internet, but many of them will take more time, energy and money than the average person has to spend on them. Blogs are definitely one of the newest and most effective ways to earn you some cash without taking more from you than it provides. Hopefully, I’ve opened your eyes to an easier, cheaper way for making money online.

Dying at Home - A Precious Gift

August 12th, 2008

Few of us care to think about the inevitability of our own demise. We except that we are not immortal, however for the most part, we are successful in putting thoughts of our own death from our mind. When those close to us die, we painfully become aware of the fragility of life and as we contemplate our own mortality, two things become very clear. 1. We do not want a painful death, and 2. We do not want to die in hospital.

Circumstances may prevent us from achieving these goals - we may be involved in a traffic accident, become a victim of crime, suffer a heart attack or stroke and be taken to hospital; grateful for the technology and trained staff who will hopefully bring us back from the brink.

But what of the terminal patient who is beyond puling back from the brink and whose journey is towards death not recovery. With no hope of a cure, their only hope is that they spend their last days at home with their loved ones.

Allowing for your terminally ill loved one to die at home is to give them a precious gift and one which will bring you the gift of peace after they have gone. If you would like to care for your loved one at home, ask your doctor to refer you to your nearest Palliative Care Organization and request that your loved one be placed under their care. Physical, practical, emotional and spiritual support is available to you through the services of highly trained and dedicated: Doctors, Nurses, Pain management Specialists Councellors, Volunteers and Chaplains who make up a Palliative Care Team.

Embracing the services of Palliative Care soon after diagnosis, does not mean that death is imminent,it simply means that you will ensure that your loved one has quality of life throughout their illness and for what ever time they are granted. Undeniably, Palliative Care is available to support families when death is near, however their services are equally intended to support the patient and their families as they journey through terminal illness.

The Simple Way to Make a lot of Money from Google Adwords

August 11th, 2008

Google Adwords presents you with a never-seen-before opportunity to make so much money off the internet that it’s unreal… or so your favourite guru would tell you.

Have you ever wondered why some people can get rich off Adwords, and yet many seem to sit there, never able to convert a single sale?

The crazy thing about this is that there is so much info out there, so many people telling you how to run your campaigns… and yet the vast majority of online marketers are still broke.

Well, I use to be part of the 90% that got nowhere, until I made a few strategic adjustments and now I am making a very good living promoting affiliate products via the site.

My strategy is very different to the one that most gurus imply. You see, all this talk of click thru rate and quality score algorithms and various other technical issues masks the basic fact of promotion: the niche / product / the sales letter you are promoting is king. It doesn’t matter how many keywords you add to your list, if you get the product wrong, everything else will flop. Since you don’t know which products work and which don’t you should expect to experiment quite a bit.

Instead of focusing on the details of my Adwords campaigns, I simply launch very many products across multiple niches.

Each niche takes me about an hour to locate, and an hour to setup a simple “no frills” Adwords campaign. Then, pretty soon, I know if the product I am promoting will sink or swim. Sounds simple, sounds profitable, but are you doing it?

I simply rinse and repeat, and every four or five attempts I run into a profitable niche and focus on it, setting up more Adwords campaigns within the niche.

When I find a profitable niche, I spend time on my Adwords campaign, but only then. This method allows me to go through about 10-20 niches and micro-niches per month. And every so often I come across a little gold mine that everyone else has overlooked because they were too focused on beefing up their keyword list or whatever.

Throwing stuff out there and constant experimentation is the way to make money from adwords

Never forget that it all comes down to the product (sales letter) that you are promoting, and you don’t know which product works unless you try. So try simply throwing stuff out there and not being so anal when you first setup your campaigns.

You will be very surprised at the results, and nine times out of ten you will be making money with Adwords within a few days

Numerous Players in the Gaming Laptops Sector

August 6th, 2008

It was not too long ago when only a handful of companies made gaming laptops. Before the lack of sales alleviated by the profit margins. Everyone wanted this type of notebook computer, however it was too costly. I guess you could say they were the best laptop computers around, at least performance wise. I know we all got thrilled about them but the majority would highly unlikely buy laptop computers that were so high priced. Lately it looks likes bigger companies are all coming into the sector extremely quickly and things are changing.

Lowering prices are not normal is this sector so bigger companies should be earning lots of money. This can be one of the few cash producing ranges they have as they make little on numerous others because of the huge competition. I am pretty confident that most of us would buy laptop computers if mass marketed by these large companies. If I were a smaller system builder I would definitely be thinking of schemes to react to this kind of competition. Now gaming laptops will no longer be considered a specialist sector. Additionally society just appear to trust bigger companies greater.

The laptop computers being introduced by branded manufacturers are all competing for the best laptop computer title. I still believe that second tier retailers will take away significant inspiration from this. Consumers like the service to configure because they can specify what is most valuable to their requirements. Normally this kind of customer is well versed in the technology and can easily evaluate specifications. For particular purchasers, the specs and performance would be a lot more important than style.

For the consumer, this holds lots of plus points. The latest technology will be available to the masses when prices are forced further down. Remember that is just my point of view on the current situation. Prices will be kept high as a result of the continuous creation of new portables. Although I still believe outcomes will be positive due to the saturating sector, we’ll have to watch.

Breakin’ It Down

August 4th, 2008

Breakin’ It Down by Cathy Bryant Copyright 2003 http://www.homebizjunction.com

I’ve recently begun working with individuals one-on-one who are truly interested in earning an income from the internet in the comfort of their own home. A common complaint I hear from them is that they are constantly overwhelmed by the enormous amount of information that they are bombarded with each and every day.

This is understandable; everyone has faced it.

Those who have been successful online, however, have done so because of a simple process - narrowing their focus.

In any business, this is necessary. But online, it is critical for success.

There are a lot of people who are working from home, and not all of them are earning their income solely from the internet. Some have businesses that are run completely offline, and many have both online and offline components.

For purposes of this article, however, I’d like to address those whose goal it is to work completely online, since that seems to be ideally what most people wish to do.

So what works best?

Many things, but I believe that the vast majority of truly successful online businesses fall into one of three groups:

Network Marketing Information Products Affiliate Program Promotion

Some successful entrepreneurs have incoroporated two and sometimes all three into their businesses.

Why did I single these three out?

Simple. The great majority of home-based online entrepreneurs I’ve ever read about, heard of or communicated with has achieved their success through at least one of these three methods.

Let’s break it down further -

Network Marketing - with all its bad press, network marketing is indeed a viable business model. The power of the internet to disperse information quickly and efficiently is ideal for those who enjoy working with others one-on-one. But that is key, for network marketing is still a person to person business, any way you look at it. The internet simply makes it easier and more cost efficient.

The key to network marketing success is to choose wisely. Rather than join the latest and greatest matrix program being touted as the fastest way to internet riches, look for a company whose products truly fill a need and who has been in business for at least five years. There are a lot of companies who have been in business for many years and who are now offering an internet presence for their distributors and customers.

Information Products - The internet is all about information. We all know that some individuals over the years have amassed small fortunes selling information to highly targeted groups. It is only natural that this type of business would move seamlessly to the online world. Even more significant for those in the information business is the fact that they can operate online at significantly reduced operating costs, thereby increasing their profits.

To be successful in the information business, one doesn’t have to have a college degree in English or be a published writer. Everyone has specialized knowledge; if you can put it together in a way that is easily understood by others, you will have a ready-made market for those who want and need your information. No matter how obscure you may think your information is, you can be sure that there are people out there looking for it!

Affiliate Program Promotion - Although I see many of the so-called “gurus” telling everyone that the only real way to make money online is to have your own product, I have to respectfully disagree. There are a whole lot of people quietly working at home, out of the spotlight, who are earning significant incomes promoting the affiliate programs of others.

The key to success in profiting from affiliate programs is by building a theme-based website targeting a very specific market and promoting only those programs whose products meet the needs of its visitors. Critical to this type of business is ongoing communication with customers and visitors, usually through newsletters and updates on new products and information that is available on the site.

Joining affiliate programs helter-skelter and trying to promote them individually via inefficient means such as classified ads, safelists, and other forms of ineffective advertising is an exercise in futility. It is this method of promotion that is often used by the newcomer online and results in their frustration and belief that earning an income with these programs is impossible.

You may be a beginner to the world of online marketing. Or perhaps you’re a victim of information overload that has hampered your forward progress. In either case, your best chance for success in your own business is to first choose from one of these three business models.

When you have done that, then you can move forward. Decide which resources you need to get your own business up and running. This will make it much easier to hit the “delete” key when your email is filled with those products and opportunities that you simply don’t need.

Stay focused on what YOU want to accomplish, and avoid the confusion of going in too many different directions. You’ll be amazed at how easy it will be to accomplish your goals once you’ve eliminated so many distractions!

Drunk Driving: DUI Or DWI It Doesn’t Matter

August 3rd, 2008

You know it’s a problem to drink and drive. Drinking and driving is the most frequently committed crime. 115 people a day die from car accidents. Of that, 47 had been drinking. Most of the accidents occur between midnight and 3 am. 43% of the fatal accidents of drunk drivers happen on the weekend. Holidays always play an important role, too. New Year’s Day is number one at 67%. Fortunately, cars are getting safer and the statistics are slowing from early 1960’s levels.

You don’t have to be “drunk” to impair your driving skills. Most don’t appear “drunk” when they get behind the wheel. You have to allow time to “sober up” after drinking if you have to drive. Normally, it takes your body one hour to allow your body to metabolize the alcohol of one drink.

What about driving? Do you have to be behind the wheel? Some states are very specific about actually driving. Some states use the term “operating” which can mean sitting in the front seat fiddling with the radio. Other states are stricter in identifying you as being able to operate the vehicle, even though you aren’t driving or even have the engine running. And driving isn’t just limited to a car. Most states use the term “motor vehicle”. This refers to any vehicle with a motor - motorcycles, boats, and some states even include bikes and horses. A horse?

If you actually want to drink and drive, where can you drive? You can’t drive on any public road or even private land if it puts the public in harm’s way. Literally, most laws say “in the state” and that, my friends, means anywhere inside the state lines, private or otherwise.

Your lawyer doesn’t have to prove intent, either, as in most criminal cases. If you had a general intent to drink, then drove, then you are done. Driving after you have been drinking shows you had intent.

Its simple folks, if you drink don’t drive. And if you are the driver, don’t drink.

Of course, none of this is to replace you speaking with an attorney if you are needing advice about a dui or dwi. Laws vary from state to state.
