A Process about the Outreach Christian Assembly

Missional church is definitely a buzz-phrase that is everywhere these days. The fact that we are required to title places of worship, missional, has always been a little strange to me. come on, shouldnt all church buildings be missional in their very core? why cant a church, at its very core, want to engage their culture and neighborhood with the gospel as a missionary would in a overseas country? Isnt this what the bodies of Christ is encouraged to do in the last challenge from Jesus in Matthew 28:19? Our own place of origin needs this brand of church. Austin church is slowly moving to what Jesus instructed in Scripture.

Christ gives the challenge in Acts 1:8 saying, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 exemplifies this subject as, right before Jesus Christ goes up to Heaven, He directs the disciples on a mission that would start right in their own community. He begins with their area of Jerusalem, and then expands the call to the many parts of the earth.

As disciples of Jesus, we are not moved to loneliness, but to be missional people who are actively going out and finding communities right where they are with the story of Christ. We have gazed at this throughout history: God moved Abraham on a mission to leave his country and his people and go to the city that God would show him (Gen. 12:1), God urges Moses on a exploration to rescue an enslaved people and lead them to joy (Exodus 3:8-10), God sends Jesus on a exploration to creation to bring back all things to Himself through the cross (Colossians 1:20). And now God is sending people on a mission to engage homes, cities, ethnicities, and even nations with the message of Jesus (Matt. 28:19 Mark 6:7 Luke 10:1 John 20:21 Acts 1:8). If we reject this call and continue to perceive the churches like a private country club ” encouraging that people fix their abilities, pay their deposit, and visit to our place of worship God will continue His story without us.
